Copenhagen, Denmark
THE MOVEMENT is a power-trio from Copenhagen/Denmark. They play mod-rock with elements of ska. Their sound is influenced by The Jam, The Who and The Clash.
The Movement is a well dressed band who always wears suits; they know the old mod-slogan:
CLEAN LIVING UNDER DIFFUCULT CIRCUMSTANCES
There are two interpretations of the groups name.
"Movement":MOVING TO MUSIC, the Movement is a high energetic band. They really kick off on stage and people cant stand still, they just have to move. It is pretty simple and very basic: They are a great live band and they got a unique power pointed directly at the audience.
POLITICAL MOVEMENT: The Movement is strongly committed to serve the working class. The main goal is to encourage young people to resist and question everything. In that matter The Clash has been a great influence: "Politics and poetry". Their influences range from Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Marx to Joe Strummer and Paul Weller.
Right after the highly recommended release of the debutalbum Move! (Destiny Records 109) in may 2003, the band toured all over the continent, playing club shows or european festival-tours in combination with such acts like THE REAL McKENZIES, THE BRIEFS and THE TURBO ACs or PENNYWISE, THE BEATSTEAKS, ANTI FLAG and THE SLACKERS (Deconstruction-Tour 2004). They also kept touring single european countries with local acts such as BANDA BASSOTTI (Italy) or TERRORGRUPPE (Germany).
Short after the release of the 2nd album "Revolutionary Sympathies" (Destiny Records 120) in 2005 they were part of the Muttis Little Monsters Tour (with THE SLACKERS) and in March 2006 they hit Japan, where their debut album MOVE! and their 2nd album just had been released short before, touring there with YELLOWCARD.
In June 2006 The Movement toured together with Mad Caddies and in the Sep./Oct. The Movement went on their own headlining European tour.
